Freedom to Be Green

For almost a decade LifeBridge Health has been committed to fostering a system-wide culture of sustainability. From creating its own compost to use for landscaping purposes to monitoring energy usage on a daily basis, LifeBridge has developed a culture of compliance in its sustainable practices that has transformed it into a cleaner, greener organization.Freedom to Be Green Logo

With full support of LifeBridge executive leadership, the Green Team meets every month to discuss and evaluate green policies and procedures. The members of the green team include dedicated employees and executives from Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital and Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Some of the green features of LifeBridge facilities include:
  • Cafeteria food waste composting
  • Plastic, paper and battery recycling bins in all staff offices
  • LED lighting throughout the hallways
  • Light switches that automatically turn off when a room is unoccupied
  • Eco-friendly cleaning products
  • A green roof

LifeBridge is proud to be the winner of five environmental awards: five Partner for Change Awards, a Communitas Award, an EPA Trailblazer Award and a Baltimore Business Journal Green Policy Award. All of these awards recognize the organization’s commitment to mercury elimination, waste reduction and recycling.

Using the expertise and input of active Green Team members, corporate partners and other peers in the health care community, LifeBridge continues to set high standards for environmental commitment and responsibility
