7th Annual Save-A-Limb Ride,
Walk and Festival
Saturday, October 20, 2012
Oregon Ridge Park, Maryland
Join us for a day full of fun rides, an inspiring walk, live music, and great food—all for a good cause. You can register for a 1-mile family walk or for a 6-mile, 15-mile, 30-mile, or metric century bike ride through Maryland’s rolling countryside. The post-ride picnic will feature a variety of yummy foods from local restaurants, and the fitness fair will include some of the top gyms and bike shops in the area. Kids will be entertained when they meet Batman, play games, create cool crafts, and make some new friends at the petting zoo. Adults will be able to unwind and relax in our Beer Garden.
All registered participants will receive a Save-A-Limb t-shirt, goody bag, and entry into our post-ride picnic, fitness fair, and festival. All 15-, 30-, and 60-mile riders will receive a Gran Fondo timing chip that will track their finishing times. Riders and walkers who are 21 years of age or older will receive a ticket for one free beer in the Beer Garden.
Chris Horner, who won the 2011 Tour of California and the 2010 Tour of the Basque Country, will be riding the metric century with us this year. Chris currently rides for Team RadioShack-Nissan-Trek and was a champion in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. Robbie Ventura, professional rider and Tour de France Commentator, will also be riding with us this year.
With every mile you ride or walk, you will raise money to help individuals from all over the world who experience joint ailments and limb deformities. We are offering some amazing prizes to recognize your efforts to support the Save-A-Limb Fund. Because of your support, we can continue to financially assist patients who cannot afford physical therapy, housing during lengthy treatments, transportation or adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs. We can also continue our international outreach missions, which help adults and children with orthopedic problems in countries such as Nicaragua, India and Haiti.
